    Help with a conversion...

    Hi,

I have an old Prather 30” deep vee (former nitro outboard) that I’m interested in converting to electric. I got sick of the mess/noise/stalling, etc. that goes along with nitro and gave it all up about 10 years back. I’ve been playing around with a few ideas and made a bracket that will allow the K&B outboard lower unit to accept an electric RC motor. I have an older Speedworks Monster Marine motor (never used) that I’d like to try. I’m looking for ideas for the speed control and battery set-up that may work…and maybe a higher power motor if needed. Note - I’m not going for super high speed with this boat, just a decent runner (15mph?) that will be fun to run. I’m also on a budget and don’t want to spend a lot, this is an older boat and I’m not looking to win races, etc. I’m new to electric boats so give me some ideas! Thanks!

you'll have more luck with input if you throw in some pics! Need to see boat and motor housing.

There are many choices for a 30" mono boat. However, if possible do it inboard and not outboard. Water and electricity are bad enemies. The below setups are for about 30-35? mph, but if you use smaller prop. you will have less speed and more runtime. I would go for:

      ESC: ETTI 150A 2-7s
Motor & Batts & prop: (Many choices)
      Feigao 580 6L (2154 kv) with 4s with 45mm prop
      NEU 1515/1Y (2100 kv) ditto
      Feigao 540 8XL (2073 kv) ditto

If everything is ok you can try biiger props for more speed. All these are available here.

If you can afford you can go 5s with less kv mootors.
I buy batteries from hobbycity (Zippy, Zippy Flightmax, Rhino), cheap and good.

If you cannot go inboard, then you can also try the outrunner Align 600XL (1700kv) with 5s - 45mm prop or 6s 42-45mm prop
