    MRC superbrain 989

is the mrc superbrain 989 a good reliable charger? does it compare to the triton 2? i just saw a review on it and although its expensive compared to other chargers, it comes with its own power source..i didnt know this, i thought it was that much for just the charger.....this will save me a lot of cash and it will handle up to 24 cells....is it worth getting or should i stick with the triton?

i had 4 superbrain chargers the 959 and the 969 and i had problems with both models. every thing from falsepeaking to the charger getting so hot that they burned up. i have now used the same astro flight 110d for 2+ years with zero problems.

How could it false peak? Do you set the mv setting correctly for your battery.... if you got older batteries or new ones the MV setting will have to be set differently... also when your packs start to get old they do false peak and there for you will need to use a higher MV setting

i tried every peak threshhold settings on the 969 and it would still false peak half the time. after tower hobbies sent me a new one i sold it and bought the astro flight. the same batts with the astro never falsed peaked. also saleens there is an adapter that cost about 40 bucks to allow u to carge lipo with any peak charger.

I sell a bunch of 977's its a great nimh charger for the money. I dont see another charger that charges 2 packs out there, that does it as well. I would not charge lipo with it. Not because it cant but because I rather see a lipo charged with a charger thats built specifically to charge lipo.

I used a brain 977 for about a year now I have had ZERO problems with it no false peaks at all and no over heating problems, I have used it to charge my heli copter lipoly batteries and a couple of lipos for my boats no problems, i used it at my race today charged 12 packs today in six hours of racing, still in one piece!!:)
