It was a great race and the Arizona gang did a fantastic job of running the event.
Dave Newland was on his game from botha racing and organizational standpoint. Each day was smooth and relaxed for everyone. The racing was tough, clean and fun.
I met some new friends and renewed some old ones. weather was absolutley gorgeous in the mid 80's, low winds, and a not a cloud to be seen. Arizona at its finest.
It was the first time in the southwest for my wife and I and we had a fantastic time in Phoenix. We spent a week there and will do it again in a heartbeat next year.
I only brought two boats and may find a way to bring some more after watching all the fun the other guys were having in LSO and Spec OPC.
It was great to meet Tony and hang with Randy (BBY) and talk riggers and set-ups. I pitted next to Lee Simonson who brought some beautifully built boats and fast too. I also pitted next to Randy and not far from Tony and enjoyed their comraderie very much.
As for the racing, I had some great heats in P Mono and in Spec Hydro (riggers)...they were memorable because I lost a few and won a few with some great passing. Those few heats keep me coming back every time. What a blast!
Lenny Blake did a great job as CD and the Scottsdale Model Boaters (gas and nitro guys) who retreived boats and help keep the race flowing along...THANK-YOU...
Dick Roberts...it was a pleasure to meet you and listen about your travels and fishing stories. Your RC past with nitro racing always provides further insights into your passion for boats and competing. I look forward to when we can meet again.
Finally, good luck Randy with your upcoming surgery...we gotta get together again for some rigger racing!
Doug, Dan, Lee and Dave from the midwest...I hope to see you guys in Michigan in September for the NAMBA nats...Reesor Boat WorksComment
