What setup for Delta Force 33???

Hallo everybody! I am going to buy a DF33 hull but I am not sure about the setup that I must use . My aim is to achieve the best speed associate with large run times (10 – 15 minutes). I want to use a Feigao XL motor if this doesn’t conflict with my aim. Also I want to add that I have already a pair of 6cell 4000mha NiMH batteries and another pair of 7cell 4200mha NiMh batteries. I would very happy if I can use these batteries just to increase the run times. I am planning to buy LiPo batteries as basic for the setup. Thanks for your help!

I dont think you will see that run time with that setup. You can get close but I would figure around half of what you want. If you are running only 14V then you will most likely only see speeds around 30-35mph. You should kind of start with choosing where you want to spend your money on. Use a higher voltage setup means more cells to buy and higher amperage means more esc to buy.

I had a 32 inch Storm by DF. It had a 10XL motor and with 4S2P 5,000 packs I could easily get 10 minutes at 45 to 48 mph using a M447 prop.

Let me ask you something else. One Delta Force 33 with: Feigao 6XL (2779 Rpm/Volt), Hydra 120 and one 4s1p 5400mha Lipo would have the same speed and the same run time with another Delta Force 33 with: Feigao 10XL (1734 Rpm/Volt), Hydra 120 and one 6s1p 5400mha Lipo ? Both of the setups have almost 40.000rpm.

You might have the same speed but you won't have the same run time , the 6S setup will most likely run almost twice as long

Thanks for the quick reply! What setup you suggest for large run times and speed of 40-50mph

And good luck getting a Feigao motor to run at 40,000 rpm for very long.

Like I said, I ran a 32 inch DF hull on a 10XL using 4S2P. That is about 25,663 rpm and got speeds in the mid to upper 40's with very good run times. Honestly I hardly ever run for more than 5 to 7 minutes anyhow. I get bored going in circles unless it is a race.

                  Here's a couple thoughts.

If what you're looking for is a great combination run time and speed, consider going with the Delta force 29 with the same power system Bill uses in his Cyber Storm. The DF 29 is a much better low power hull compared to the 33. Back the prop down to an M445 and you'll have a very quick boat with lots of run time.

You could also just stick a Blackjack 26 power system in the DF 29 with paralleled 4S 5000's. One of the guy's in our club runs one that way in P mono and it's pretty quick and runs forever.

                  Just my .02

I was just thinking of suggesting the DF29 also , Here is a good build to look at

Thank you for your help!!! I prefer the DF33 because has the possibility to be faster (if I want in the future) than DF29. What do you know about the Rhino and ZIPPY Flightmax lipo batteries? They are reliable?

No idea. I use only PolyRC packs from RClipos.com. They are made with top reated Enerland cells and have proven to be very good packs. I tend to steer clear of the off brand stuff when it comes to batteries.

I run the rhino packs in some of my boats and planes and have had good service from them.
Can't really recommend the flightmax as I've had bad experience with their hard cased car packs that suffered from poor solder joints,Their regular packs might be different though....

                          YMMV

I built the DF29 with a 540 8xl motor ,but if I was to build the DF33 I would use a 580L motor and an Etti 150 esc if you want to go inexpensive. I've seen video of a 9xl in the DF29 with speeds of 82.6 kph on 4s1p and it looks stable. I haven't run mine yet due to the 3 feet of ice still on our ponds but so can't wait till spring.

As for batteries I use polyRc and Elite.
