    Super Hawaii motor question???

I have an ABC, Super Hawaii with 2 Trinity Monster Marine motors and a PDI Zeta Electro speed controller that will run up to 36 cells. I run two 7 cell packs(8.4v)ea in series..

My question is can I run 18 cells and not burn up the motors???
    Thanks

hmmmm...kinda pushing your luck there :) One thing you did not mention is if it has gears. They had 2:1 gear ratio in them.

I would say you would simply burn them up from either volts/amps or rpm.

I ran mine with stock gears and 14 cells and never burned the little mabuchi motors up but they would have finally eaten the brushes. Is that a closed can where the brushes are inside?

No, the motor can and brushes are water cooled...

A pic of the motors might help...

I pulled my gears out and ran a 700 on 12-14 cells. Too much haedache with gears

If I were doing it again I would put good hardware on it and run a 10-11 Xl on 5-6S and it would be wicked fast.

Go to my website and check out the SH under "Our rides" www.rcraceboat.com

I'm assuming that this is a brushless motor?? Do you have a link to that motor?

I've been out of touch with the Rc world since 1992 so some of the terms are foreign to me.. Thanks

BTW, like the way you did the mod on the SH...

You can get what you want right here on OSE. Go to the store and look at motors - Feigo. That boat is actually easy to push so you may want to stay with 12 cells and a 9XL or may an 8XL.

You would end up with a much better running boat and little maint.

Is a Feigao 580L "Long" similar to the 9XL, 8XL???

What ESC do you recommend? I was looking at the Etti Brushless Navy Race 150???

                Thanks for you'r help..

That hull is like a banana. It pushes easy.

I would get a 540 9XL and one of OSE ESCs (Etti would be perfect) and 12 or 4S cells and it will be fast.

Hardware should be a typical strut and offset rudder and a 150 cable. X642 prop or even a cheap 45mm CF prop to start with.

Those boats are tough...I landed mine many times and never a crack or anything.

It will be very fast...turn fins will also help as it wants to slide out in the corners.
