    Mean Machine

    WOW..awesome information

Hi guys my name is Nick..... I live in Jupiter FL and I could really use some help

Me and my son have been playing with Losi buggys, truggys, traxxas rustler's and stampedes (cars)......I have started to hit the electric boat forums and have been getting very very interested in FE boats.....since I allready have all the electric gear from all my cars I fugure I can rig a nice boat.......this would be my first boat

So far I have a deal working with a guy in the forums that is trading me a Mean Machine for one of my buggy's....I chose the mean machine because I see many many members have one of these in there fleet..also checked them out on youtube and like how they seem to handle even in choppy water...the one i'm getting has a feigao 8xl with water jacket, Hydro 240 esc from castle...prop is not known but hes giving me one...he says hes had it 60+ mph on 4s...it also has a custom paint job (bling)

So here's where I need help to start...let me list what I have to modify it (cause you know I have to modify it) lol

    batts

pair of 2s1p flight power 4000mah 25c/35c (enerland)
    pair of 2s1p tru rc 8000mah 20c

    pair of ZIPPY-H 5000mAh 3S1P 20-30C
    pair of ZIPPY-R 4800mAh 3s1p 25C 30c

pair of neu energy 5s 4300mah 25c/50c (enerland)

    Motors

    Neu 1515/2.5/d 1650kv
    Neu 1512/2.5/d 2050kv
CC Neu 2200kv but its finned (cant use?)
and the feigao that comes with it

and the only boat esc I have is the Hydro castle 240

what combo should I use to give me decent run times, less heat and FASTEST...lol

also what ranges of props should I buy? and brand

    also I have a spektrum dx3.0 radio system...can I use this?

we are supposed to ship to each other on mondy so when I get the goods I will post pics (in another thread)

    Thanks so much in advance

    Hi Nick,
have you run this MM in the trim when you received it from the original owner????
Im interested because im building one too.Im thinking feigao 8XL seaking 120A and 4S1P
5000 30C packs should do the job.
    Any recorded speeds????

The thread's six months old guys.....

I suggest the 9XL motor in the MM, I get speeds in the mid-high 40s in my MM. I was no faster with the 8XL, and almost as fast with a 10XL. The 8XL will be pushing that 120 amp ESC. Frankly I think I will put the 10XL back in it.....longer run times, lower temps, plenty of speed.

hey Fluid, what kind of speeds do you think you are getting with the 10XL ?
I have a 8XL in mine now and thinking of going either a 12XL or 11XL on 6s and put the 8XL in my Revo

my system ended up being a neu castle 2200 kv motor on 4s1p and at present i have got it to 46mph...I think there is a lot more to come when i get the hull tuned (strut height and c.o.g.)

the mm is def one of the nicest hulls to work with..it handles awesome even in a little bit of choppy water

in fact all aeromarine hulls are darn nice

and thanks to Fluids input I cleaned up my interior to look like this

do you think the 9XL would be pushing the Seaking 120A ESC,I want to build it on the reliable side not pushing the electronics too much.

the 120A should work just fine with a 9XL

Brushless 55 thank for the reply, just ordered a 9xl for the MM.
In Australia our rules dictate that we only run a 4S1P or pack weight no greater than 600grm.
should i put the motor at the rear with the pack infront of the motor and across the tunnel???
please guys post those pictures so i can get an idea what to do

This isn't a MeanMachine (it's an AC Lightning) but here is what I did for an LSO 4S1P setup.

I take it your working with an mm with the stuffing tube allready installed?

cog on this boat is about 9.5 inches .....look at my boat above in post #7...thats the stock stuffing location of the gas mm .........I just brought my motor right up to it and used the batterys to get 9.5" cog

                            those batts are 4s1p

I feel 9xl was a good choice for a motor
