    Motor Align 600XL

Has anybody used this motor in a boat?
Is it an outrunner with the external casing rotating?

It is quite powerful (2000 watts) with 1650kv.

Heres a 34" Sprint Cat with these motors in a twin setup on 4s. He got 56.9mph from her!

My prop hasn't been wet in a while.

Good Lord!! I have one of those in hand right now! Bought it to use in my E maxx but that just went out the door with that video. I have the hull already, one motor and the batteries so one more motor, and 2 escs and I am good to go.

The motor is an out runner although it has the appearance of an inrunner. Max voltage is 22.2 volts so you can go 6s if you want, I will not! They are made in Tiawan and have high quality german bearings. They also have a built in fan so there is no need to cool them is there?? Size is 43.7x65mm. and a kv of 1700 Absolutely top shelf workmanship 4 sure!!

That cat was truly rigged in a very unorthodox way with stingers!!! mounted on the sponsons. NEVER seen that before, but it worked like a charm. That is a first for me seeing a stinger setup on a cat.

Anyway, if someone wants a few pics of my motor I can send them to someone to post here. I have not mastered that yet and admin. has had to do it for me so far.

Any way, the emaxx WILL NOT get this motor!!

Thanks for your inputs. Looks like this motor is worth to try in a boat. Good Kvs and watts only issue is cooling which remains to be seen.

Mr.Curt I think you were asking for motors for a Team Believer hull. Well you can do it with two of these.

Stinger setups are super common with dual powered setups! They offer lots of adjustability and look great, like those Arneson drives on the real boats.

This motor might even work great as a single in a 30" or so cat like the MM.

I tested this motor on 6s1p with 442 and 43mm(custom) prop. on 36" mono about 80 amps current draw. Very nice performance! I made also a custom CF cooling jacket.

This is the motor I plan to put in the rico 29" I just bought. I have 4 of these motor right now. Looks to be pretty good in a 36 inch boat. Probably a little big hull but still very good for such a small motor.

I am very satisfied with it, and this is towards the max. speed that this hull can handle well. Beyond that, nasty Surprises come. The motor temp was 125 F. with 42mm prop., 150 with a 43mm 1.45pitch. I do not know how long it will last. I also have a KB45 8XL (1700kv) and I will put that in and run same setup to see if there are any differences.

The align does not have NEAR the mass of the kb45 xl. ITs mass is a little more than a 1515 neu so the kb is out of its league. That motor is not meant to push a 36 inch boat successfully on such a big prop

Disar, as you could see this is an outrunner in a can, it's looking like an inrunner, so basicaly the cooling is useless as the coil is inside the rotor, meaning it is far away from the cooling!
I have a T-Rex 450 that originaly came with the align motor, and most people consider this is not a reliable motor, of course they are good for the money but, mine did not last more than 20 flights and I'm just beginning in the heli world! broken shaft!
most people, in the 450 class upgrade the Align motor with a Scorpion witch is better for the same money, that's what I did, it's a real outrunner so in our boat it is not possible to use a watercooling as we do it on can style inrunner!

ED thanks for your input. I tested the motor without the cooling jacket first (just a small coil) but temps were very high 60 C on top, 70 C on back. With the jacket 50 on top, 60 on back side, so I keep the jacket. Something else I did I put a small cooling fan on the back side but burnt with the 6s, I received a new one at 5V to work from the receiver. The fan also worked very nice, and in outrunners where the external casing is rotating I think the cooling fan is the only good solution.
I forgot, I put also a thrust bearing
