    Mean Machine update vid

I ran My 24 cell mean machine again today, went well, ran a sharpened and balanced X640 I purchased from Offshore. The vid is from the first run which I did not gps (too bad because it was visibly faster than the second which made 42.5mph). It was another windy day but the little extra lift from the X640 did help keep the bow down, no blow over, turns better (you were right Fluid!). Motor, esc, and battery temps were still low, next weekend will try the X642. I had to post a pic too, hope you guys like it!

Great driving & setup. You looked like a pro out there. I hope to be making some cat videos in about 6 weeks.

Thanks guys, learning to drive these boats well is almost as challenging as building them. Believe it or not that run was 5 min 40 seconds long, I'm thinking I can still squeeze some more mph out of this one! Oh, and SJFE, the devcon worked great, thanks for the tip!

looks almost as fast as my 12 cell set up
you should try a 12 cell setup with a 9XL . i bet you would get faster speeds

Great video, I really like the MM's overall performance.

Hey Taylor - how fast have you GPS'd your 12-cell rocket?

Eyekandy, if my math is correct, a 9XL at 14.4v would be turning 26683 no load rpm at the prop with direct drive. My setup with the 1.26:1 gearing is turning 31771 no load at the prop (with more torque). Figuring the mah used and the runtime I'm averaging 38 amps with the X640. I'm thinking that means I still have room to prop up with this setup. Is it that my hull is carrying that much more weight? I still have hopes of reaching 50mph, wish me luck!

RMZ, you should be able to get there from here. Twenty four cells is a lot of weight for the 29" hull, but if you get the attitude right you will get 50 mph. If you can run an m645, and can keep full throttle for a longer time, I'm sure you can hit 50 with your setup. Smoother water will add several mph by itself....every wave you hit slows you down a bit.

Too, you can block-sand the steps to square them up - the steps on my MM are not as flat as they first appear, having shallow low spots and bumps. Use 200 grit wet with a hard block until the surfaces are completely covered, and you can expect a few more mph.

I'll get to work on the steps, order another prop, and hope to get smooth water! Thanks again for the advice Fluid, I'll keep posting the results!:)

Ran the MM again today with the X642 prop and with the steps sanded nice and flat.
First run gps at 45.7mph, still kind of loose in the turns, bow was a little high. In the new vid run I moved the CG forward .5" and was very happy with the results! I wish I had gps'd this run cause she was faster. I actually made some full throttle turns without spinning out.(did flip once going into a turn). Next weekend I'll try the M645 prop Fluid suggested. I'm really starting to love this hull! Here's the vid guys!

Cool. You must be eyeing their eyes to electrics over there. No one likes to get spanked.

Thanks Steven, three of the guys (so far) that run fuel boats are wanting to build electrics. I'm answering a lot of questions about mine. I've advised them to check out your website and forum to help get them started. Both have been an invaluable resource for me.

ADAboy RM. Way to stomp the fuel boat:D. Did he have an engine problem? I noticed the tune on that thing changed pitch about a minute after he strated running. The MM looks good. Fast and controlable. Keep the good videos coming. I know where there are a few nitro guys in town. I gota swing buy and see if they still run. I wana piece of that action:D....lol

Thanks SJ, I didn't ask him but I thinking he was having some engine trouble, at least it sounded like it. I think I would have pulled ahead anyway! And here's a pic of some of the guys that run here, I'm the lonely FE guy on your left!
