Too much power for .150 flex cable?

I'm getting ready to set up a hydro and will be using a Lehner 1950-6 turn(2090KV) rated at 3000 watts@100 amps. My question is, will a .150 flex cable system be strong enough to withstand the power of this motor or do I have to go to a
.187 cable system? Any info will be greatly appreciated!

What batteries are you running and what is the length/weight of the hull?

Hi there, thanx for responding so quickly. I was planning on going with a 6s lipo setup and the hull length is 25 in. Not sure what the final weight will be with batteries, electronics and hardware. Right now without any hardware, batts and electronics the weight is 1lb.13.2oz. so it's extremely light! I thought about staying with standard sub C cells just to keep it on the water, either that or some serious aerodynamic aids up front! RPM with 2090KV@ 6s is just over 46,000 so I was planning on staying with a fairly small prop like a Y537/3.

Better have you a good resue boat. That is too much for a 25" hull.

That is a 8XL on 6S. You will never be able to open it up and then you will be heating your ESC up badly.

The 150 cable will hanlde it but the rest won't.

Also, too little load on a motor can be just as bad....you can throw all kinds of stuff apart in the motor and then goes your ESC and next even the cells.

I run a Lehner 1950/7 on 6s in a 24" OSE Raider Hydro Octura x640with an Etti 150 race ESC. She runs like stink with no heating issues. Just make sure to prop small with that motor and be sure you have a very good watercooled ESC. I can tell you that your motor will run a lot more efficent on 4s because of the higher kv. The kv of the 1950/7 is 1791 rpm/v.

            sub C cells

you will be alot happier going LIPO then sticking with sub C cells . if you want weight, re-enforce the inside of the hull.

Thank You to everybody who has responded, but I still need to know whether or not the .150 flex cable will handle the power of the 6-turn Lehner 1950. I really don't want to have to go any bigger than the .150 cable because there seems to be alot more hardware available for a hydro of my size in the .150 range than there is in the .187 and bigger range.

The boat itself will not work well on 6S with your motor, so the flex cable size is immaterial. You could get by just fine on a 4S/0.150 combo with plenty of speed for any practical use. What someone else does with a different motor in a different hull is interesting, but is it helpful?

But it really doesn't matter what anyone here tells you , if you are so wedded to using the 0.150" cable/6S setup....

                  That's a fair assessment.
