    Rigger Rudder Position

Which is the best position for a rudder assembly on a rigger boat running clockwise? Port, Center, or Starboard? Thank you in advance.... Harold

PORT is best for a Rigger.

Most successful riggers run the rudder on the right. Left works well for sport hydros with wide transoms as it loads the right sponson in a turn and counteracts the drag of the turn fin. With a rigger though, my experience says on the right.

Thank you for the replies. At the present I have the rudder assembly mounted on the right side so will leave it there

Definatly on the right, for running a clockwise oval.

I have been wondering the same thing. I have read a few threads about this and it seems that it does not seem to have much effect with some boaters. It actually felt strange when I mounted the rudder on my Renegade Rigger on the left side. Just used to the right side...that's all.
