Connectors?

So I've been out of the game for a little while, and as soon as I get out of this hospital, recovering from the stroke, I plan to get back into it.

One question that I have is what are most people using for connectors in P mono and P-Limited? Are bullets still popular or has something taken over? I use the AMASS 150 in my 12S helis and I like them. Anyone using them?

Hey Bill,

Hopefully recovery is going well and your back running boats soon. Lots of good options for connectors these days. I would say the two most important things are finding a consistent fit of the connectors and a brand that will continue making connectors for a long time. As you will be aware, you will likely want to commonize around a common connector for most of your batteries.

My favorite is still the Lehner 6mm connector as it is consistent (although very tight) and readily available. They are also compatible with Jet 6.0 contacts.
The castle 6.5mm and 8mm connectors are quite good and cost effective. They also make a polarized version if you prefer a tandem option instead of loose contacts.
OSE also has some polarized connectors with integrated anti-spark although these are best used for 6S and higher cell count setups.

If you run 2P and have parallel leads in your boat the connector option is less sensitive compared to a 1P setup where all the current flows through a single leg. If I run a high amp 1P setup I only use the LMT 6mm connectors. Or else i would run Castle 8mm contacts.

Skip 5.5mm and smaller connectors. with todays lipos, esc's and motors those connectors are under rated.

Thanks Tyler that was kind of where I was headed to realize I'm behind the times but I hope to catch up soon. And I'm making pretty good progress with my recovery, still in skilled nursing, but hope to be out of here pretty soon.

In P mono and P-Limited, a lot of racers still stick with 5.5mm or 6.5mm bullets—especially Castle or QS8-style for their low resistance and reliability. Some are also moving to anti-spark versions for ease of use. The AMASS 150s you mentioned are solid for high-current setups, though they're a bit bulky for boat interiors depending on layout.
At the end of the day, it comes down to what fits your build and your comfort level.
