new to rc boats, so jet and prop model

After being out of rc trucks for many dog years, and having access to water, I thought it would be fun to get a boat, or 2..
I ended up with a proboat jetstream, and a couple 4s 5000 mah packs, and charger.. spectrum stuff..

While cool, and I like it, very stable wide boat and jet requires power to turn, and that boat will spin 360's if you get greedy.
Good for where I run it in area with lots of vegation..

But seeing those prop driven boats run considerably faster got my interest as well..
So low tide, the jetstream is great, high tide a prop driven boat is great..
Now while I liked the build of the proboat, and it's 3s,4s..
And I had 2 4s batteries with the ec5 connectors I wanted a self righting fast electric that was a single battery setup that could use the same batteries I already had..

Yes I did look at the recoil 2, but it is 3s..
I also looked at the traxxas disruptor as it is 3s,4s..
So with a try to ec5 connector I can share batteries, which was a determining factor.

Now after running the disruptor on 3s and 4s, adding 2 Oz weight to transom, and using different weight battery packs, as well as the standard and steel prop, I have a little chine walk on 3s, and quite a bit more on 4s.
I'd like to settle that down. Seeing posts on recoil2 and other similar size boats running 2 trim tabs and other mods has got me thinking..

So I'm looking at trim tabs and the rudder setup from a spartan. Or keep the 80mm rudder and use the support and brackets from a spartan and some of those 30x50mm trim tabs..
It's going to be fun, and I could use some advice. I'm sure I'll have other questions along this journey.

    Thanks in advance for replies.

I would like to use the mounting holes that existing trim tabs are in, I think hole spacing is 13mm on those, now I know I'd probably have to drill trim tab and transom.
So the 4 pack of ose medium tabs may work better for that. By doing this I can keep the existing turn fin.

How will dual 30x40 tab setup affect chine walk and turn radius vs using stock small turn fin and tab and adding a pair of 30x40 tab in addition?

Before you start drilling any holes . I would try moving the weight you added at the transom towards the front of the boat. And I would try sliding the battery forward a tad if you can . I've never owned a monohull boat just Cats and Hydros. I did a quick google search on chine walks before I recommended this. Take it with a grain of salt. It can't hurt to try that first before going down a path that you may not be able to come back from. It's not as easy to fix a plastic boat as it is a fiberglass one.

Thanks and I agree with drilling holes in a abs hull..it is a concern not to be taken lightly..

Ok, I ran the boat stock form with 4s 5000mah lipo (520 gr), 4s 5800 mah lihv (430 gr), 3s 5800 mah lihv (339 gr) battery packs
With batteries placement in various locations, rear ward, centered, front ward, with both the plastic prop and the metal prop. Seeing that the traxxas 6700 4s is 643gr, and the 5000 4s is 476 gr, and I had chine walking on the 3s and More on the 4s, what would be the best balance of battery weight to performance handling wise to settle the chine walk?

Note :4s 5000 was spectrum g2, 4s 5800, and 3s 5800 were smh, all were 100c or higher rating. I do not have any traxxas batteries, just using info on them for weight comparisons..

I tried it with no weight In the transom up to 2 ounces in the transom. With no weight 3s has chine walk, on 4s bow wanted to lift out of water without weight, with with 2 oz transom weight, a fresh lihv 3s pack, a little chine walk until voltage dropped a little. On 4s lihv chine walk but batteries I had and chine walk more than with transom weight.

The stock trim tabs are small, like 18" boat size 20x20mm I'm not looking forward to drilling holes in a new abs hull.. but if an additional 30x50 adjustable trim tab will solve the chine walk on 4s, so be it..I'm not worried about removing the transom weight, it is held in by a drop of ca glue and easily removed.

Thanks for reply..still thinking about it..

Take a close looks at the transom, I remember my spartan actually had an undrilled hole on each side where the trim tabs mounted stock. They looked like dimples outside, and if you looked inside the hull there was actually a boss to accept another screw. Your Disruptor is probably different, worth a look though. You could always experiment making your own tabs.
