    blackjack 26 or aquacraft ul-1

HI all, i am looking to move on from my traxxas villain to a faster electric. any opinions as to the blackjack vs aquacraft ul-1. i want the fastest i can get in that price range of about $300-350. i really like the ul-1 but the blackjack is also very cool.

I have both in my garage and I can tell you first hand it is not fair to compare the two. The UL-1 is light years ahead of the BJ26. Here is a few points to consider. BJ26 is a straight running boat only, it doesn't turn at any kind of speed without rolling over. I find also that the proboat ESC is garbage. I can run my UL1 at full speed in the straights and just about wide open in the turns. Come to think of it I haven't flipped or rolled my UL1 yet so I may be able to turn at full speed, but I havent been brave enough to try it. The motor-esc combo and the 2.4ghz radio is awesome in the UL1 as well.

A month ago I would have said the UL-1 hands down & I still believe its a better boat!

My concern is the problems an awful look of guys have reported on the hull strength and damage being done while running!

My son has 1 and & it runs real well --- but we only had a chance to run it a few times before the water got hard!

You can read the entries over on RRR about these problems ... if you are hands on and can fix them then UL-1 is the way to go!

Can you elaborate on this? What makes this one worse than the SV27 ESC, for example??

I've had issues with mine as well, it just shuts off for no apparent reason, leaving the boat in the middle of the pond. The programming card never programmed anything in all my attempts. My 4 SV controllers are going stong for over 3 years now. Maybe I just got a bad one,,,who knows.

Maybe most people got bad ones. My first one would always act as it the low voltage cut off was on. Horizon told me it was the brand new Venom 4600mah 7cell batteries that didn't have a high enough c rating to operate the ESC, so I hooked up my flightpower 4s 25c 5000mah lipo to it and......the same thing. I tried reprograming and nothing. Horizon ended up sending me a new one and I programmed it for 4s, ran for about 30 sec and........a big fire and a stinky smoke stained boat. Too many working ESC's out there to fight with this one. I'm sure there are people out there that haven't had any problems and I am happy for you. I do know that when I first got this boat and discovered the esc issue I searched the forums and found that I wasn't the only one with esc problems. One more thing, the venom batteries work fine on my hydra 240 and AQ ESC.
                      Hope this helps,
                      Alvin
