    Nitro to FE newb

    All,

Hope your willing to put up with me. Lots of nitro experience and verry little electric besides a truggy several years back. I'll try to use the search as much as possible.

I will be switching routes from nitro to electric as almost all my tubs are for 12 size nitro and I cant find parts to save my life. So I'd rather throw a pack in skip, the mess and enjoy the boating! Its been 10 years since I messed with boats, hopefully I didn't forget too much since then.

As you can tell in the picture I love carbon fiber. The riggers are Frank Orlic tubs, I set them up just like a JAE and use their sponsons. I will make a Jae26 size out of one of the carbon tubs and a R4 out of the bigger kevlar tub. The The Stealth will be the other electric conversions. Big thanks to Tyler G has me pretty set on the Stealth setup and I have started ordering parts already. The others will likely be over the next couple years as golf season is soon to start up!!!

Thanks in advance for your patience with me

No I do not. It's a Phil Thomas hull he made for me 10 years ago! I just finally got it out and blew the dust off of it!

                FE is not a cult

he's going to electric because he cant find engines/parts. Those are engines that fit right in the rigger. No need to downgrade to electric.

I certainly wont be placing one of those in the hull! I only need 1 12 nitro boat. The other hulls are too short for anything bigger and the little Nova 12 I have is a rpm monster!

I'm shifting towards FE so I dont have to do all the pre and after run. Just want to be able to charge some packs and go have fun. I'll always have some nitro hulls but no longer will I attempt to keep 5 of them running and parts stocked.

word yeah its a lot of maintenance. such a shame NR went out of business. There simply is not a .12 on the market now. I personally would just build the 26FE kit and move the hardware over to it. They're only $60 prolly be less work IDK.

I built this little dude with a $50 proboat engine and pipe somebody had converted to FE. milled the sleeve and ported crank and she is a blast.

Contact me with any questions you have. I got back into the hobby 3 years ago after being out of it 20 years and now have about a dozen boats.

Thank you for offering your assistance, I will eventually take you up on that!! Dropped $600 just the other day and another $300 today:) That is the part of the hobby I certainly don't miss and of course waiting for the parts to arrive.

Started to sand the rough edges down last night and figure out my paint design. Lots of air pockets in the carbon I wanted to expose so I have to figure out something to cover those yet expose so much carbon.

Then its time to fit the hardware and mount it all up, then take back out to paint!

As of know I think the only question I have is what is the servo of choice these days? When I got out of the hobby it was the old 645MG. This would be for the Stealth 30

                        Thanks for your time

Just put some clear coat over the carbon.

                          Best servo for the money.
