Castle esc female connector repair

Have you ever done this. I didn't check the tightness of the motor connectors and on my second lap it just quit. And of course I pressed the throttle several times thinking that something magical would happen, and it would run again and wine the race. It didn't, and now I gots a problem.

Don't throw it away, I have a repair that will make it good as new. I make this little connector adapter to solder into the cleaned out hole of the bad connector.

I tin it first, then solder it good into the old connector

A little heat shrink and your back in business!

Wow, that must have been really loose to arc like that and vaporize material. Nice fix.

As a preventive action for those that use the X8S and XLX2. If the male connectors insert too easily this can lead to the connector pulling out or excessive heat leading to reflow of the solder. Use a tapered reamer or similar spreading device and gently insert into the center of the connector spreading the fingers out. You want a nice tight fit!

Just had the same thing happen tonight. I'm blaming the cheap 8mm bullets I had installed, the ones with the dick head rib like what I think I see in the original photos. My damage was not as bad luckily, however it would have been nice to be able to refrain from hitting the throttle (mine barely drove in). Replacing those 3 bullets with the CC bullets.

After I was educated about the difference in bullet quality (thought they were all the same), all I use are Castle and LMT bullets now.
