Newbie needs help.

Hi All,

I have looked all over forum to post this but not sure where it fits in.
I'm totally new to boating after years of RC planes then I discovered boats,
Amazing fun . I must say how did I not know about this before.

So back to problem I have searched as much as I can, watched videos and could not find
an answer to it..
I'm sure its super simple but when you new to it you just don't know.
excuse me if I don't call parts by correct name as still learning.

So I have a Vector SR80 Pro as first boat lots of fun.
When I pulled out flex cable to grease it up this flanged bearing came out to

My question is it meant to be fixed in to prop shaft holder or loose.
Do I need to loctite it in?
I leave a gap between for drive dog like i read you meant to but should it be hard against bearing to stop it coming out.
Makes me worried I will destroy something.
Hopefully this all makes sense.

Thats a bushing and should be fixed into the strut. Clean out the grease and a little Loctite will do the trick, and the flange could still easily be removed with a little heat first.

You always want to leave a gap between the drive dog and strut, as flex cables will shorten themselves a bit under load as the "wind" of the cable tightens up, and there would be binding and overloading of the electronics. The longer the drive cable, the more it will shrink. I would increase the gap a couple mm more than what is shown in your photo.

Everything in my bones told me it should be but being new to it all I just was not sure.
It's a petty lose fit not a neat fit so hopefully it will
loctited in ok.
Should have asked before what would be best loctite
to use?
I have a spare bearing the same part of the spares I bought and it fits the same .

Typically I would use the thin wicking green bearing retainer Loctite if the fit was proper, but I would try either the blue 242 or 243 medium strength blue stuff. The difference between the two is the 243 is more oil tolerant. If that won't hold with the poor fitment, then the red stuff might be the next step, but that will require a good bit of heat in order to remove for replacement when needed, but is possible

and can't believe the speed these boats
can get to absolutely amazing.

Yes, FE boats can achieve incredible speeds! Its always a balancing act though between speed and keeping the electronics from catching fire due to the crazy high current draws. My mono pictured in my avatar does 88mph, but pulls nearly 400 amp peaks to do so!

Meanwhile there is this Cat doing 133MPH. Not mine, but shows what is possible if you throw enough money at it. I also have a twin motor Miss Geico Cat myself, but it only does a slow 90MPH in comparison
