The stinger, itself, has nothing to do with the prop rotating CW or CCW. CW & CCW rotation is dependant on how the flex shaft is wound, and the direction of the threading on the prop shaft.

I thought you were the one joking considering you have been here since 2009 with 2100 post! How can a hollow tube that the shaft spins in be directional? If so, is the brass stuffing tube also directional? Of course not, its just a damn tube with a cable in it no different than the stinger is! Its the wind direction of the flex cable so its doesnt uncoil itself running the opposite direction, and the props that are R/L directional.Last edited by Xrayted; 05-20-2024, 09:03 AM.Comment

No joke. Go to OSE, or any other site selling struts/singers...do you see them selling any that are specific to CW or CCW? Nope...because they are not rotational direction specific. I might still be somewhat new to RC boats (if you consider 4-5 years as "new")...but, this is an easy fact to figure out, just by checking out any RC boating website.

some Stingers are design to be CW and CCW, i have 3 stingers from Arrowshark for gas boats that turns CCW only. The extension on the stinger is left hand treaded so as the shaft turns it will tightenDo you know what the biggest problem with the world is?

I am curious about the ball bearing stingers though. Does anyone know of others with ball bearings? I like that idea regardless of rotation.Noisy personComment

I use to do this with my wire drives too but fitting them in a standard dimension stinger was a pain. I ended up with a smaller shaft than I wanted. If your prop is any bit out of balance it beat the crap out of my bearings.Noisy personComment
