    Mean Machine Prop Selection

OK guys I just about have my MM done ... Now what prop do you all recommend?

    I'm running Fiegao 9xl and 4s Lipo power & an Etti 150!

Steven what Cmdi prop do you have in stock that would work?

Try a x442 and go from there. Thats what worked best on my 30" Cat(9xl/4s).
My prop hasn't been wet in a while.

I had the same setup in a bigger boat and tried 442, 445, 645, 646, s220 and amps were not greater than 80-90. I believe you can try all these.

kinda depends on what you want to do with the boat. for the offshore class you'll probably want a more conservative prop. to keep your amp draw down(x440/3 worked reasonably well for me in offshore)

The cmd props are designed for riggers and hydros. I wouldn't suggest one for a cat until I tried it and I wont be testing them for several months.

ah, in that case...I started w/ a k40 for the 1st 4 runs(till things loosend up) then started going up, testing is required to see what you can run for (figure 4.5 minutes) as I recall you want to keep your amp draw below an 80amp average. perhaps this year I can put a bit more prop on mine (accidently was running extreem timing). but a 440/3 is a reasonably good choice for offshore.

Eodman, I've experimented with the Mean Machine quite a bit. I use a 9XL, 4S2P, CC Hydra 120, and a m545 prop. Speed is 50mph. Temperature on the motor, ESC, and Lipos are just "warm" after a 8 minute run. On a 645 prop, the motor runs hot.

Just make sure your strut is 0.25" above the rear transom edge at zero angle, and that your rudder is at least 5.5in. Here is data on prop and speed:

                9XL, 4S2P, CC120, x445 = 47mph

                9XL, 4S2P, CC120, m545 = 50mph

                9XL, 4S2P, CC120, m645 = 53mph
                Mean Machine Cat: 9XL, 4S2P, CC120, M545 (50mph) -- DF22 Hydro: 8L, 3S1P/4500, CC120, x637 (49mph) -- M-1 SuperCat: 1521/1Y, 6S2P, CC240, x447 (61mph) -- SV27 Mono: stock setup, 14-cell/4200, x642 (42mph) -- Micro Scat Cat: 28-3600, 3S1P/2100, Turnigy 60, x430 (41mph)
