    hello from a Newbie

Hello, I'm an old nitro and gasoline r/c boat guy that has been heavily involved in the hobby for over 40 years. I'm always camped out over on Jim's r/c boat dock and IW. However, I recently traded one of my gas boats for a FE. The boat I got is a rtr Oxidean Marine "Animal Cat". From the research I've done, it appears to be the same boat as the 38" Zonda. The boat has Seaking esc's, 4082 2200kv motors, radio, 2 sets of drives, 3 sets of props and is basically brand new. I got it from a club member and know it has only been run a few times. It looks very fast. I have not run the boat myself yet as I want to get educated on all the in's and out's first. I made a knee jerk decision on trading for the boat and now I'm wondering if the boat is even any good. Any feedback from you guys, good or bad is much appreciated. Thanks

That things gunna be one bad fast cat. I have always wanted a zonda/animal cat. Looks like yours has some great parts to start with, at least I would be excited about the setup!

Finally got a chance to go through the boat. On it's maiden run, I lost the right motor due to the shaft spinning in the collet. Also the boat came back with about a half liter of water in it. Turns out the original owner never filed flat spots on either end of the shafts which made sense why all of the socket heads on the set screws were stripped. He just kept trying to make them tighter. One of the water lines had a split in it so that explained the water in the boat. After fixing those issues, I tossed the junk tx/rx that came with the boat and hooked it up with my Flysky Noble, then reprogrammed the esc's to the stock config, set the drives about 2 degrees negative, and painted on a windscreen for good measure. Looking forward to the next warm day so I can test. Hopefully the second time out is better then the first!
