RC boaters east of Toronto

Trying to find some boaters east of Toronto area
I find myself at a bit of a cross roads
Our local group I used to run with has fallen apart
We used to have the perfect play pond in an old gravel pit but it has changed ownership and has lost all its good points
One of our members brothers that was a regular has passed away really changed things also
Did not run any boats at all last summer
The snow I hope is finally gone for the last time
In the past I have gone out by myself to run but it is just no fun
If I can not find a group to hang out with that is not too far away maybe it is just time to sell off everything
I used to be part of the group that raced at Humber Bay then moved over to Centennial park but last I heard they moved farther west and north
Are you guys still out there ?
I see some of their names in some of the posts ...

Anybody else in the area ????

I'm not sure who you are but I ran quite a bit at Humber Bay when MMM was a very active FE racing club. The main active club in your area is Northern Lights Model Boat Club - they have insured ponds through IMPBA in Beamsville and Alliston and near Princeton, and are looking to approach a private pond owner near Burford this year.

NLMBC also hosts the CanAm in August a large international race held at 50 Point conservation area in August with many FE classes offered.

I left the hobby around 2010 but have since returned and moved back to Woodstock. I used to travel from Woodstock to Humber Bay for every club race day (almost 90 minutes each way) so it just depends upon how far are you willing to travel to get to water. Keep in minds that water these days is extremely difficult to find and keep anywhere near the GTA - the demand for land is just far too intense.

There are still some guys around - let's start with who you are? What do you have to run?

One day there was a club boat sale at Peters warehouse and I ended up buying one of your old yellow P mono boat Reeser Boat Works

The ponds you are talking about are about a 2 hour drive for me each way

Think back then I was driving an old Dodge Dakota truck that was two colours of green parts on the front and a bright red truck box on the back ( almost looked like a Christmas truck )

Is Chris still into the boats ?
He was always thinking outside the box

If it’s the Chris I thinking about he was running with us at the aliston pond but he hasn’t been around for a couple years. I think lot of the guys you would have ran with awhile back have moved on to other things! Did you race with the guys at clareaville dam?

When you go play electric boats at the pond is that all that runs that day or is there gas and nitro there running in between elecric races also ?

Hi eboat, I too ran with mmm, also nlmbc. I live in Haliburton county and run with 8-10 guys from Peterborough on Sunday's 8a-12p or so. All electrics just fun runs no medals or plaques !! I also run in my front yard Horseshoe Lake.

I haven't actually raced in a couple years. Finances and health issues have slowed me down some but I am still building and plan to run much more at Alliston this year.

If I can get my together maybe I can make the Can Am. I miss it A LOT!

I am about 75% done a wood Black Pearl Sport hydro and I have a P Spec mono, a P mono and a few toys not meant for organized racing.

I've been waiting for over a year to get a surgery consult, my back is a bigger mess now that when I broke it in 1990.
