I have two old Dumas Short Stuff 18"Deep Vee boats that were built for .049 nitro motors. Would like to convert them to electric. Looking for advice on motors and props.

A terrible recommendation. 7400 KV motor is far too high for 2S, something around 2500-3000 would be much better. The ShortStuff was not designed for high speeds, 20 mph is probably as fast as it will like to go. At least the fiberglass one I had was almost uncontrollable at speeds we consider normal today for small boats.

Ok... This is a balsa boat kit not made for fast speed, I thought it was a modern fibreglass hull ...Comment

Oh wow this brings back memories. This is the first boat I built when I was 15. Talk about a long time ago. LOLComment

You could consider a 22xx outrunner motor. All e RC has some discounted Scorpion motors like this 2600kv 2208 outrunner.

We run one of these in a mini rigger on higher cell counts, but for a small 18" mono on 2 cells it should be a good fit. on 2S you will not need to water cool the motor and you can use a simple 25A speed control. If you run everything exposed look at the Castle Mamba Micro 2 ESC which is potted so it's waterproof. https://www.castlecreations.com/en/m...sc-010-0169-00
Find an appropriate Octura 1/8" coupler to the correct flex shaft or wire drive diameter and run something in the 25-40mm prop range.Tyler Garrard

The boats are from the original wood kits so they are pretty heavy compared to the newer fiberglass hulls.Attached FilesComment
