Counter-Rotating Drive System on Single Shaft

Has anyone every seen, heard of, or played with a counter-rotating drive system on a single shaft? In other words, two counter-rotating props on the same shaft, one behind the other.

Also, what pitch has been used on either prop? Including how does it affect the 2nd prop behind the first?

    Thanks for the input.

The motors are out there. Not sure if anyone has applied them for boat use though. A search on RC Groups will show what they look like.

Good question and gets the imagination going. I know they have outrunners for airplane/heli set up for this but to come up with a reliable drive system is a challenge for a boat. Maybe something like a wire drive inside a cable drive. Not sure if the outcome would be worth the effort ... except maybe the WOW factor.

I guess I was asleep at the wheel for this thread. I totally missed it! Thanks for the info.

Let's just say that top speed and maneuverability does not suffer as long as you have the correct prop pair and setup. I know this much from the Spec Ops community.
