P class monos - % hull in the water?

As a very general rule of thumb, if there is one, about what percentage of a P mono-hull will be touching the water at speed on a glass smooth pond? 30-40%? This may be a ridiculous question - just don't know - perhaps every boat is somewhat unique. Thanks in advance for any observations.

I don't race but sport run a couple of monos 30" & 32" and would think that
on glassy smooth water it would be more like 10% to 20% at most.

It depends on the aerodynamics and actual rusults will vary from hull to hull, but pure hydrodynamics say that an unstepped mono will be wet from the CoG to the transom.

Thank you Paul. So perhaps the question should be how to determine the most appropriate CG - which I'm pretty sure is "hull dependent" - and thus determined by tuning trial and error. Thanks for the input 👍.

As you say it is hull dependant, weather dependant, and personal choice dependant too, as someone running on glass with a rescue boat may want it further back than someone running the same boat in white caps with a strong offshore wind and only a tennis ball on a fishing rod for rescue, but 30% give or take a few percent.
