Mounting futaba 2.4 GHZ R21O4GF antenna ?

Hi all installing one of these receivers in my new mono build the rx antenna is 7 1/2 inches in length .I personally like to extend the antenna a couple of inches above the deck in a plastic tube. My ? here is has any one tested the range between leaving the antenna under the deck as to bringing it a several inches above the deck ? Regards Andris Golts.

an antenna outside the hull give a beter reach and if there is carbon in the hull there no other option
