Help a noob refine his plans. Please?

Howdy guys. I'm looking for some input in regard to build plans for a few hulls. My plans are to build them all for cheap fun. These will get run on the pond in the apartment complex next to mine and also on Lake Martin when I go visit family (they are in a cove, waves are usually quite small or non-existant).

That being said, I present the hull list. All of these are from BBY racing.

    2 Micro Hydros
    2 Micro Patriots
    1 Micro ScatCat
1 Micro Shovelnose Hydro (brand new design from Randy, I talked him out of the first pulls)

At the top of my priority list I would like to have one of the MHydro's, and the Shovelnose. Why? So I can give Randy some input on how the new hull runs and handles compared to the old one. Because of this, I would like to aim for the exact same hardware between them.

I do have plans for the other MH and 1 of the MP's already, they will get built in accordance with Dr. Jet's SSSH rules. Dr. Jet's Thread
This means a specific motor/esc combo (bought from ebay, 3000kv outrunner and a 30A esc) and a 2s lipo around 1300-1800mah.

So, that being said, I need input on the following.

    1 MH and 1 MSn
    1 MSC
    1 MP

On Randy's site he mentions running the MP with 480BL. This seems to be a bit large of a motor to me for a 16" hull. I was thinking about building it with a power system similar to what is being recommended as a brushless upgrade for the AQ Mini Rio since the hulls are of similar length. The only thing I worry about is that the MP hull looks to me to have a much deeper V then the MiniRio.

    Current motor thoughts: Motor Link
I'm not sure I like my KV that high, but I don't think I will be able to fit a 3s pack in the hull when all is said and done.
For hardware I was planning on using Joe's stuff. (Turn fin needed? I don't think it is.. right?). For a strut and drive line, I was planning on using the .098 flex drive from OSE.

For the 2 identical hydros, I was thinking about this motor, along with the same combo of Joe's hardware and the OSE drive line parts.

For the MSC, I am a bit more on the fence. I want this guy to be tameish on 2s but enough on 3s to stun the family when I decide to participate.
I was thinking about this motor and this ESC. ESC is probably overkill, but I'm not sure if the 35A version will cut it.

Yes, I shop at HC, no I don't plan on buying my motors elsewhere. I am building these to be fun for the family, not to really compete in anything.
Suggestions on lipo sizes for the various hulls would also be appreciated.

For radios, I will run my old AM Futaba in one boat (whichever ends up being the slowest, or my least favorite), the others will get put on an MX-3. I will probably buy another 1 or two as they are cheap right now and are decent radios.

So.. whatcha think? Input on ESC's and props would be nice as I am a bit clueless to how many amps I should expect based on hull size. I can do it with my planes, just a bit clueless with boarts.

I may go with some different hardware on some boats, rudders with water pickups even if not needed just to have that little stream shoot out (Yes, I am a bit vain, get over it :) )

    Hi Sneasle
Feeling a little better today, I can not belive what luck.

Well any way we were running the 480 with the NiMh batteries, we may not need that big of motor now with Lipo. If they start making 6 pole small motors we realy will not.

I have a lot of work to do and I am at 75% so I will get back to you later.

Good to hear it. Food poisoning is a B****. My GF had some last X-mas when we flew to Germany to visit my family, she didn't really recover until 2 days before we left :/ .

Ya, I saw mention or a 480 on the product page for the hulls. The motor I have picked out are all 380's, just a tad bit smaller. The 380 for the Cat has a water jacket built in, the 380's for the Hydro/Shovel and MP have a finned jacket installed.

Get your self better, gotta have you at 100% to keep making these awesome little hulls.
