    Glueing Fiberglass battery trays ?

Hi all. Purchased OSE #855B60 fiberglass battery trays no instructions included ! #1 What glue should i use to glue the fiberglass tabs to the fiberglass tray ? #2 There are 4 tabs with the tray 2 are marked to go in the middle off the tray i assume with the other 2 tabs 1 is glued to each end off the tray to hold the battery straps in place. Is this correct ? #3 which glue would i use to glue the fiberglass tabs to the plywood hull bottom that has been coated with Pacer finishing resin ? This hull should run in the 65 + mph range ! Regards Andris Golts.

I lightly scuff the mating surfaces and glue the tabs to the trays with thin CA. The tabs are used as spacers to elevate the tray off the hull floor to provide room for velcro battery straps to be routed underneath. Depending on the length of the tray and the number of straps used, the tabs can also help keep the straps positioned by creating channels underneath. I'll sometimes double, or even triple stack the tabs on various corners if I'm trying to counteract an uneven hull floor surface. In that case, I drill two holes through the stacked tab assembly to create more surface area for the epoxy to flow into.

When mounting the trays to the hull, it's important to scuff both mating surfaces to get a good bond. I like to use an epoxy with a little more give, like West System G-Flex. Definitely not a fast curing epoxy, they're too brittle.

Scuff and clean with acetone in the spots to glue. I prefer to use Hysol epoxy E-90FL. https://www.mcmaster.com/6430A18/ It's similar to West Systems G-Flex but does require the mixing pump gun and mixing nozzles.

Always looking to try something new. What's the viscosity like on the Loctite stuff? I need to thicken the G-Flex for most applications to keep things where I want them.
