    HydroMarine Intruder MK2 performance/ questions?

Hi, i'm looking at boats and recently came across the H&M the Intruder MK2. How does Hydromarine stack up in terms of build quality to boats from MHZ and HPR (since i hear those names talked in high regard a lot). I'm looking for a offshore cat boat that can handle some small chop and also some oval racing...

    - Are these european boats actually still better than the high spec'd boat from TFL, or has the playing field been leveled now that TFL are so big and well regarded (for the price at least)?

    - How would the Intruder MK2 perform against something like a TFL Cheetah?

    - For oval racing is a single drive the most easy, better handling, cheaper and better option (ie. are twins better for scale looks and SAW or do they have any advantage in oval racing when you're not trying to crack triple digit speeds)?

    - Any other boats i should consider for this type of application (i like the look of the Animal cat and 38 Zonda twins but not sure they would handle light chop and oval racing as well (not organised class racing so class specs are not a concern)?

    Thanks

Hi the build quality from H&M boats are excellent , for oval racing is the H&M Supercat M1 the better boat(the hull shape looks like a Aeromarine Sprint Cat and these are the best hull shape )

      OK !

I'll say that the Hydro & Marine hulls know how to get stepped bottoms right. Better than anything I've seen. I've had two H&M Drifter S's and have somewhere like eight National NAMBA SAW records with them. My H&M Drifters when setup properly basically fly the hull leaving practically no wake.

The H&M build quality is excellent but the MHZ, HPR and Aeromarine hulls are more heavy/durable. As is the TFL Cheetah Gelcoat with inlay

As far as using any of the scale-like cat hulls for ovals, the Cheetah, which could be termed a "widebody" will out corner any of the long skinny hulls. My Drifters were world class fast, but cornered like King Henry VIII. The barrel rolls were entertaining, 'tho.

For oval racing is a single drive the most easy, better handling, cheaper and better option (ie. are twins better for scale looks and SAW or do they have any advantage in oval racing when you're not trying to crack triple digit speeds)?

I'm a proponent of single drives in cats although I've seen many dual engined ones go really quickly and once they get in the larger sizes the SAW record holders I've pitted with were mostly all twins. (I'm personally happy with my well tuned Cheetah and have shied away from the twin building/tuning/expensing)
