    Routing cooling water lines

Ok, silly question time. I have a Leopard 4082 motor with a cooling jacket mounted in a water cooled mount. Which should I route the cooling water to first, the jacket on the motor or the fittings on the mount. I've thought about it a lot and don't see much difference, but I thought I'd at least ask. Thanks.

definitely motor first! Having direct water on the can is going to cool more efferently than the transfer of heat from the end bell to the motor mount.

+1 to what Mike said. Cool the motor can, then the mount.

Personally, I would bypass the mount all together. I pull the barbs and thread in grub screws so I don't have to look at them. The passages through those mounts are usually quite narrow and restrictive to flow. I'd rather have increased water flow through the more efficient jacket and a shorter cooling path overall.

I skip it too. Not sure why it never occurs to me to pull the nipples out of there.
