Hi all a friend built a 32 inch mono out of 1/16 birch ply hull set up for 6s power dual trim tabs on transom once the the hull gets into the low 50 s on perfectly smooth water it keeps blowing off the water tried trim tab adjustments moving lipos around different props nothing seemed to improve the boats handling . I took a metal straight edge ruler to the hull bottom and noticed a hook on each side of the keel about a inch forward of the transom and about 4 inches long and about 2 inches towards each chine with the deepest part of hook a little over a 1/16 of an inch deep then a little further up past the 2 inch point i noticed a rocker at about 1/32 inch on each side right at the transom . My first question would these hull imperfections cause this sort of havoc with regards to the hulls ability to stay on the water ! For correction i suggested sand the hull back to bare wood and fill the voids with West system epoxy thickened with filler and block sand perfectly flat. ANY other suggestion welcome.Regards Andris Golts.

Hard to tell in truth. The only hull I've seen work with a hook is the Seaducer. It's taken him years to get that hook perfected.
If it were me, I would go back to stone flat ride surfaces. Then try to figure it out from there. Overall shape can make boats lift too. Deep vee, shallow vee, deck shape, canopy shape. All factors. It's the risk with scratch built stuff. We're all guessing on what will work. Some are making better guesses based on experience but still usually guesses. I've been doing this for eons and still prefer others best guesses over my own.
For filling I would try Evercoat Formula 27. Much easier sanding and shaping.Noisy personComment
