    Lipolly bats

A guy at the races told me about someone that had fully charged some lipoly batteries and then started charging them again by mistake. They were in a ammo box and it bulged out the sides of the box when they blew. SO be careful not to get your Lipoly sets mixed up or poof!!!

I use a balance charger and it must detect voltage. I charged mine with almost allready charged and they went right to usuall full charge.

AStro flight is a quality name. Does their charger not cut off charging when the voltage is reached? Is it just a simple timer charge? Maybe it was user error and he did not use the right charge profile or something. It apears in my opinion that alot of the lipo fires are caused by human charging errors. The next seems to be physical damage or over discharging. You do need to take an extra amount of care with these but in general with the guidlines and safety rules followed the majority of accidents can be avoided.

          Just my opinion.

if its a astro 110 then its not a lipo charger.

the astro 109 is a lipo charger and it does not monitor cells for the first 5 mins or it didn't they might have upgraded the software since then.

I thought this link has some good information about charging lipoly cells.

The problem in this case was user error. That user has a history of LiPo issues unfortunately. I have seen him bring in a boat with 2" of water covering his LiPo packs. He puts the soaked packs in an ammo box, takes them home and charges them again a week later. The amazing thing is that he has not had a bad fire, etc.
