    Charging lead acid?

I have seen chargers that state they can charge lead acid batteries, but do not specify size of lead acid or voltage.

My main question is will a charger that states it can charge lead acid batteries charge a 12v automotive car battery? Lead acid and AGM (optima).

I am looking for a newer charger like hyperion with a small footprint that is both ac/dc and It would be nice to use on my automobile if need be, or possible.

I have a few different chargers for automotive battereies as a result of a long history of abusing them and killing alternators etc.
All modern auto batteries are 12v and as such need an input charge of 13 to 14 volts to get them up to speed.
You can charge them at up to 10A but I would not charge any of mine at over 5A.
I have a 0.5A charger that can be left on for days at a time if needed.
For me I keep my hobby chargers for my boat and crawler packs and use the automotive type chargers for my wagon and her car if needed.
You should be able to pick up a low cost automotive charger at a local auto parts store.
    See it....find the photos.....sketch it it....build it........with wood

Yes it will. I have iCharger 106B+ I use to charge my AGM battery to take to the lake. Make sure your charger has menu option for lead batteries. Although, in mine there is no convenient equalizing charge option, so i just up the voltage to 15.5 Volts manually when needed.

Cool, so if I bought a hyperion charger with lead acid capabilities, I can also use it to charge my automotive car battery if it needs a charge, another excuse to buy a new charger!
