Rest in peace my Friend: Michael paganelli. 1967-2021

I loved that big goofy guy. Had a lot of fun over the years racing and partying with the big guy. Typical New Yorker but Kind and gentle and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. I may have seen that BTW! REST IN PEACE MY FRIEND!

    Thank you Howard.

It's a huge loss. He was inspiring at the least.

        Mike Paganelli

Found a great picture of Mike Pags and his daughters searching to post on his Funeral Tribute Wall.
This in my mind summed up many great memories of him.

Mike always livened things up -( Picture from 2012 FE Nat's at Legg Lake). I got to drive him around for the event - we laughed like little kids....Really bad news of his passing

I've been thinking about Pags since hearing the news. Man, did we have good times. Everyone did around him. Every time we were together created new stories and memories.

I'm sure he'd appreciate my share of probably the funniest: 2013 Nats in Minden, Ca. Great spot, but out in the sticks. Pitch black at night and not much around. Farm land. Mexican food was a 10 minute drive in the country. We hit up the joint and on the way back, my transfer case in my truck was really acting up. 4X2...4X4, then 0X4. Doing 70 MPH then coasting to zero. Pags kept thinking I was messing with him as he would say from the back seat, "Newland. Come on. Cut the crap. Let's go" to a point that I wish I was messing with him because it was funny. Then it got serous. "Newland, you got a towel? Because I'm about ready to burst and blow all over your truck!". I turn around to look at him and sweat is running down his forehead.

I couldn't push the transfer case buttons fast enough and luckily the truck engaged. Made it back just in time. I took Mr Offshore from him that year, and when I got home, there was a massive dry-iced box of premium meats from his butcher at my door. Fed my family for a week.

At the 10 nats when Fred and I were using the floor of our hotel room to stop the earth from spinning so damned fast, we speculated that maybe Mikey had been trying to get us wang'd so we would be useless the next day. "Come on! One more for the road!" The hotel was about 200 feet away.

Very sad to hear this, he was a great guy. I ribbed him at our last Can-Am race all weekend about Cannolis, he said he would bring me some and forgot.

Here's a photo from our 2012 race where he was dousing his girls for their first trophies. RIP my friend.

                      Mike "Mad Mike Pags" Paganelli.
The man was a tough competitor, but had a heart of gold once you got to know him! He was the proud father of 2 daughters. He beamed with pride when Ava and Nina beat the guys on the FE pond! The 1st time I met him, he took the time to help this novice get a boat running right. I appreciated all the tips and tricks he shared with me over the years. This guy was hilarious, and had so many funny stories to tell in that New York accent. I will miss you my friend!

Terrible news. Prayers to all Mike's family. I remember the girls commenting about one of my paint jobs. Mike says "Yeah, honey, but the pretty ones don't go fast". We will miss you Mike!
