    Looking for a good quality flex hex .

    Hi all im looking for a good quality 5mm - 3/16 flex shaft flex hex coupler the Octura one i have does not spin true i remember years ago i purchased a German made flex hex but for get the manufacturer and the store that sold me the coupler. Regards Andris Golts.

    H&M I use and I really like them. Light small and true. The TFL steel coupler seems to be modeled after it but doesn't compare in the slightest.

    They can be bought at Rocket City Racing in Florida. Wait a few weeks as our dollar could go over par.

                I had bad experiences with Aeromarine collets. Thankfully I switched to Speedmaster couplers. The pricey but worth it.

                  I know everyone is afraid of setscrews on flex cables, but I have been using Jeff Wohlt couplers and really like them. 4 set screws 2 on each side of the shaft hold well and in tight spaces where you fumble with wrenches they make removing ang greasing easy. Eliminates using a single screw shaft saver. Cables are not distorting with a little solder on the end. Just another option.

                    The MBP collets are probably the truest out there, but are bulky and don't fit in every installation. I use them when I can. The H&M, LMT style collet is my second favorite. The newer version has a brass cone vs. the older style that were all stainless. I've machined both styles on a lathe when I needed to improve clearance issues.

                      Seems like Octura had a bad run of couplers. I also had some that had issues, but recently all of their couplers have been pretty true.
                      For high power or high torque I do prefer the Octura couplers. Otherwise the MBP are really nice and able to fit decently on slightly undersized shafts.
                      Speedmaster has been producing some good couplers too in recent years. Also worth a look.
