    New Mono 10s build.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays!!! So i received my Christmas present today...brand new Light-speed Mono 45. I am going to be building it for 8 to 10s. I want to be able to run my gas props that i already have, so am i looking advice on what size and kv motor to run. Planning on using the Swordfish 300a so i will definitely pick one of those up after the holidays. One of my buddies suggested that i need to run 4 batteries instead of 2....2 in series to get me to 8 or 10s, then 2 in parallel for run time mah....is this right? Any help or advice you can share will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks and Happy Holidays!!!

    Regards,
    David

My 8S boat used an 850 Kv motor (~56 mm diameter) and gas props (65-70 mm). My 10S boats all used 60-65 mm props with 800-850 Kv motors. Total pack capacity ranged from 6500-10,000 mAh, either 1P or 2P depending on the pack configuration. The 300 amp ESC is overkill - but not a bad idea. Will you be oval racing, or sport running?

David, I replied to your IM. What size gas props do you have? The kV will need to reduce if using large props like some 30cc gas boats are running today. I told you 500kV on the low side for 10S assuming 75-80mm. 700-800kV is appropriate for 60-65mm. The kV choice will also depend on what motor you run. A 6 pole TP motor can run lower KV with more torque compared to a 2-pole Lehner, but these motors also require different props.

If you have not selected a motor yet, I would recommend the TP 5670 9D or 10D, TP 5680 8D or the original Castle 2028 780kV motor.

          New Mono 10s build.

          I have a 42 inch Twincraft with a 725kv (1Y) Neu 2230 and a Swordfish 300Pro+ esc on 10s.
Its setup for oval racing in the open class with the nitro and gas boats. Its a fun boat [emoji12]

I raced my Insane mono using a TP 5680 650 kv on 10s and ran 7016 props. I custom make 5s 10,000 packs so it's easy to connect everything.
