    Beginner to RC boats

I purchased a used miss geico with a DYNM 3815 ESC and a DYNM 3835, this is running the 2s 5000 mah batteries in series, this summer when I was running it it let the smoke out of the ESC, I called horizon and they told me the DYNM3870 would work I would just have to make a Y to run in series. The problem is I cannot source any of the original parts. Now I question if my motor is bad what to do. Is there a way to figure out easily if I have this size boat what size motor, esc and whatever else I may be missing I can use and is there other reliable mfg. you would recommend. If you need more info let me know. Thanks for any input!!

Lets start with what size Miss Gieco you have . I'm assuming it's a Proboat. I think they made 3 different sizes 17, 26?, and 36. If folks know what size boat you have it will be a bit easier to suggest motor and ESC.

Yep, it?s a 29?, and I have been in contact with someone from offshore electrics which I didn?t realize was a seller of parts, and has been more than helpful!! I bought this as a Ready to Run boat, how fast do variations of esc, and motors change, very disappointed that a part fails and the part is discontinued. My plan from here out I believe is to build my own boats, learn as much info I can from this forum and build a better product that will last. Last thing how much of the problem of parts scarcity is because of COVID or is this normal that parts become non stock or discontinued. Thanks for your time.

I tested the motor using the drill test and it ran 189 volts using a fluke 87-V meter all leads were 189 +\- on a 1500KV motor not sure of the rpm?s if the drill

One thing, my son 12, wanted a plane so we picked up an apprentice for him and I was comparing the motors of the plane which feels smooth where the boat motor I can feel where each magnet is as the shaft of the rotor is turned is that normal?

Covid is making it hard to get parts right now. Which really sucks. Don't be afraid to swap motors and esc into the 29. you could end up with something that's better than what you started with. Not trying to talk you out of building your own. That's fun too. I'm slowly building a 1/8th scale hydro.
