Kerry,
Are you planning on racing it? If yes, which organization as they have different rules.
If no, what are your goals for the boat? Similar speeds to a nitro 1/8 scale or 100mph+. Do you want to run specific props?
Would you prefer a "top shelf" power system or a "budget" system or something balanced?
Tell us a little more and we can narrow down the details.

Yes, I have a 72" cat with twin NEU 2300, castle 240 ESC,25C 6000 mAh 5S1P 18.5V batteries. I would race IMPBA If I do race. I am looking for 100+ for speed Top shelf. No specific prop. Looking at a 44" boat. Just not sure what I need but don't want to over power it. Also not sure what the latest ESC, Motor and batteries are. Thanks Kerry

For IMPBA there are three legal motors options Neu 15XX series, LMT 22XX series and a Plettenberg 370 if you want run for any record or official race. Any 100mph setup is overpowered in a scale boat. Realistically the most power combo would be a LMT 2280/7 with an MGM 40063 on 10S. Alternatively you can run a Neu 1530/1Y and a Swordfish 300 also on 10S. You will need stout batteries from Dinogy, RoaringTOP or a similar 65C+ graphene cell. 10S1P 5000-6000mAh to keep the boat on the lighter side.
IMPBA allows a few other motors for club racing like the TP4070, HET 700-98, Turnigy SK3 3994 and the Leopard 4092.
