    Motor SSS56104 Question

    Hey guys

I assembled an electric Outer Limits 59 with the following parts:

    Motor: Leopard 56110
    ESC 300amp
    Batteries: 6500 MaxAmp 150c

It?s doing 60mph right now and I want to know if I can take it to 70+ mph by upgrading the motor to the SSS56104.
I?d really appreciate any input or recommendations.
    Thanks

Better batteries will likely do far more for you than a different motor will.

Actually, we have no idea how to answer the OP?s question. IME the SSS is not an upgrade from the Leopard, it is a smaller, cheaper motor. Really though, it comes down to the Kv of each motor. He needs to answer the following:

      - What is the Kv of his current motor?
      - What battery configuration is he running? 10S2P? 12S1P?
      - What prop is he running?
      - Is he racing, or does all he want is a few fast zip-zip passes?

He might be able to achieve his goal with nothing more than a different trim setting and a prop change.

I would recommend the 56114 700kv motor on 10s. I make some 5s 10,000 65c packs that would get you decent runtime on a boat this size and I have 2 in stock.

That is true fluid, you could well be right, and all the extra info he can provide would be very helpful. I was basing my answer on the following baseless assumptions:

That as he is considering an upgrade that will cost him a considerable amount of money, he will have already optimized his existing set it up to best suit his needs, and is still wanting more.

That as he doesn't specify KVs, the prospective motor's KV is similar to his existing one, and he thinks that the SSS may be a better quality motor.

That he is using the correct terminology and whether 1p or 6p his boat is carrying 6500mAh total of battery. As he bought Maxamps, I am also assuming that he believes that they are good packs, maybe even believes their "True 150C" rating, and thinks they can take anything he can throw at them. He likely doesn't know that they are just a low end 20C pack with a huge advertising budget and price markup.
