Hi I was given a very nice 50 ish aromarine deep v hull with a weedwacker motor in it would like to convert it to fast electric was wondering if I was on the right path with motor and prop. Was thinking a single 56/80 motor 800kv 270.-280 Prather prop on 10-12s with a 300 amp Ecu. Any help appreciated.

All sounds reasonable, except your prop. That's a gas prop and much too large. Electric setups are smaller in diameter because of the dramatic increase in RPM. You're going to be closer to the 50ish mm range, something like an octura 455 or 457 to start.Vac-U-Tug Jr (13mph) -
Using a step-down flex cable stub is what most FE boaters do. This allows a bigger choice of appropriate props with 3/16” bores. Keep the 1/4” stub though, you may find a use for it. Rotation is the same.ERROR 403 - This is not the page you are looking for

Big electric boats aren't cheap and aren't for everyone.
Batteries will set you back around $200 at least too, and that will only get you 5 mins tops, instead of the 30mins you can get with petrol, and charging them up takes an hour insted of the couple of minutes it take to fill a tank, so if it is your only boat you will probably want more than one.
On the plus side, they are cleaner, quieter, allowed in more places, and have the potential for more speed.Paul Upton-Taylor, Greased Weasel Racing.Comment

For the size boat you want to run, I would use a 600 to 680 kv motor and 10s. That way you can turn a 467 to 470 prop. 800 kv is to hot for big boats. Spinning the snot out of a small prop is not the way to do it. I run a TP 5870 680kv in my insane mono on 10s and a 7016 gas prop. But that setup is a hot race one for that prop. With a 470 it would be a great sport set up plus it lets you use a proper prop for a 50" boat. If your interested, I have gone to gas, I have my setup for sale. It comes with motor and custom water jacket, motor mount for 5" rail, motor coupler for 1/4 cable and 400 amp esc. Also I make the batteries that go with these large boats.Last edited by MarkF; 08-01-2020, 05:53 PM.Comment
