    Adding lipo

I was given an old hydro marine bud hydroplane that has a Hacker B50 10XL motor and a Jeti master navy 77 -3P esc. Boat has no batteries with it so don't know what it was running on. Any info about the esc would be great.

Thanks, I saw that too but the one I'm looking for wasn't listed.

That motor in that hull usually runs on 4S1P.

You mean 4S lipo? That would be great as I have them. But I am unable to find out the specs for the speed control if it can handle them. JETI Master Navy 77-3P. It's the 3P that is screwing me up.

I never knew what the 3P meant or worried about it when I ran those.

If it does not say OPTO on it then it has a BEC circuit.

You can use NiMH or Lipo on these. If using NiMH you can use 12 cells, not sure of max Voltage though??

3P means 3 Phase. A brushless motor, is in fact, a 3-phase motor. It was rated at 77 amps. Since it was designed for NiCds, there probably isn't a low-voltage cutoff. Capable of 36V or about 8S. 10S might work, but beware.....

Thanks, that is what I was trying to find out. Looks like I'll be buying a new speed control
