Gas to electric conversion project....

Bought a Prather Fun Cruiser way back, had some good times, pissed a few people off
Boat was modified, pretty fast (35 plus) and noisy. Time to pass on to grandson in this new electric RC world.

I am asking for any assistance in this process, tips, knowledge, parts and pieces.

Here is what i know so far:
Boat is big and heavy, 46", 10# w/o motor
25cc Homey was turning a #265 prop between 6 to 8k
Has a 1/4' flex cable, Prather running gear.
2 channel radio, servos.

Not looking for a race boat, just a fun dependable lake toy for my grandson to enjoy with supervision
Used stuff ideal trying to keep the budget down.

I'm kinda new to this and I am working on converting a 56" V hull and I'm going with the stuff below. You can get everything here at the OSE parts store.
Motor: Leopard 56110 780kv motor
Esc: 300A swordfish
Lipo: 12s 10.000
Prop: starting with an x457

What are your thoughts on water cooled components?
For recreational use is it really necessary?

Any other source on used pieces you can reccomend??

I water cool all my motors and ESC's no mater how big the boat is, lots of heat builds up on both either running full throttle or just running around for fun. I normally buy all my electronics new from the store here. I did see a 300amp swordfish ESC on RC groups the other day not sure if it was new or used.

What do you feel is a good speed for the grandson? That 35mph would probably be a good start. I really want to say a good size drill motor would do it but if a well picked brushless motor/ESC are chosen then one could start at the aforementioned speed and increase voltage(and speed) later. You could keep all the hardware ?as is? , certainly to start. I have a converted Dumas 45? hull as well as a few other conversions.

All hardware is good to go, just want to at least find a good used motor to keep costs down

I attended the Hobby Expo at Evergreen Fairgrounds , Monroe Wa. You come down???
Got some good info from a couple of clubs, not much boat stuff at swap meet.
If I had a dime for every RC plane for sale could buy out Bezo

Yup, I see planes for sale all the time. Every man wants the freedom of flight don’t they? Lol
Keep an eye out as motors do come along. Let me give it some thought as I do have a few bigger motors kicking around myself.
You can keep speed down with say a 6s batteries in a setup which is designed for 10s. This would leave room for future speed increases and provide better run times on the lower voltage.
ESC is another spot one can save on if say Hobbyking or a used or old stock one came up. I don’t think I have anything of good value but will have a look on the weekend.
