yes it can run of 4s, I have heard only one guy about that boat and he said that the motor that comes in it is a bit small, it overheats. You should get an 9XL can but I am not sure about those motors you are referring to... perhaps a Feigao 9XL since it has been widely used, you can find it here
Since you have the motor though, (which one is it how many turns and size?), you should use it if it is an appropriate size.

The motor is dubious....hardware is great....hull quallity?
For a first RTR probably a good selection.

                    Hi,

I have the exact same hull and hardware. I junk the motor, its crap. I got a Feigao 9L 2700kv, Hex 120A ESC and X637prop. Ran them off two packs of Hex 3S1P 2200mah 20C in parallel. Drawing not more than 65amps continuous.

Speed on my GPS was 35+mph constant.

Looking the photos I see that it has trim tabs with turn fins combined. I tried these in the past and one thing I can say is that they decreased speed greatly. You can try if you want running the boat without these tabs+fins to check performance and speed.

Have a read through this & you'll see the problems, pitfalls, & successes with this great little hull. There are quite a few versions & setups.
I think you've bought the best value for dollar version & won't have a lot of the problems we all had at the start with the 'Prince' version from R2 Hobbies. Same hull, different hardware.
Speed - Electric - Prince 25 Mono - I thought I would start a new thread for this boat since it seems to be getting popular but there is not much info out there yet on it. I ordered mine from http://r2hobbies.com/products.php?cat=58 and should be getting them any day now. They did not have white ones in stock so they

                            Happy reading.

The trim tabs with turn fins are from OSE. Initially I ran w/o them, and the turning was loose at speed. It sort of want to "oversteer".

With the turn fins, the boat track properly on the turns and much more manageable at speeds. Tis boat is meant for sports running in a smaller pond only. So I do not require SAW type of speed. Just fast enough to enjoy.
