if i was to buy swoop waterline what size ose pass thru grommet would i need? outside diameter is 8mm on their waterline

I would say the 7.9mm grommet.

But why not buy the fancy coloured tubing here at OSE too, at a cheaper price. Save on two lots of postage as well.

Yes, OD is 8mm and ID is 4mm and you could use 5/16th or 7.9mm grommet would be fine

I much prefer the 4x7mm water line tubing. The thicker wall tubing is heavier, less flexible, and more difficult to fit to nipples in some locations. I can't understand why it is so popular?

Same here. Just plain translucent 4mm x 7mm tubing in all my boats.
