    hardwere Q

I have and will have a few more questions if someone can offer info. I really want to build a little boat without spending a lot. I believe I have the motor and speed control, also have a little servo Actually have a few if someone needs one, PM me. I am considering a few boats including the Mini v steve offered, but really want a cat or hydro or rigger but I think I would like to go with something with a straight drive, simler to the SV. Seems the simplest but may not work with certine boats. One question I have is,

Do I need a actual strut or can I come threw the hull with just the brass tube, then a bushing and run a flex? Something similar to the SV without the strut.

Kinda funny. I just tried that on a mono hull. I dont regret trying but it wont hold very long. Even if you get a dynamic and static balanced prop it will vibrate either bending the tube or rounding the hole in hull orr your tube will simply work loose. In my case all three. The tube just steady bent slightly no matter what and it was silly after trying it.

Hopf in Germany makes this kind of drive line for "small" boats, an aluminium tube with teflon tubing inside and flex shaft http://www.hopf-modelltechnik.de/Pro...4-mm-Endstueck
the prop shaft fits in a stronger piece of aluminium tube with bushing or bearing, this part is glued to the hull, the other tube can be bended before gluing to adapt prop angle.

The original Wild Thing (3.5cc mono) by John Finch simply uses brass tubing. The brass tubing is doubled up towards the end to increase strength.
