What can I say Jay? 125 seemed to be my max, if it was ever exceeded it was a rare occasion. But even if it was 130 or 140 we are still not talking about the kinds of temps that would be a worry.

No Bill, it's not hot enough to cause a problem; my point was that at least in my club where we all check our temps after every heat, that temps over 125 are common. Not all the time with every setup of course, but it isn't uncommon to see 135-140 on the caps. Again not a problem, just an observation.

I agree that checking temps is a must and I always do it. But I am also seeing that it is not always 100% diagnostic of a potential problem. I would expect to see numbers much higher to indicate a potential issue, and I did not. So let me re-phrase for 1005 accuracy. I rarely saw temps over 125 to 130, and I never saw any over 140 to 150. Again the point being that at least in my motor failures temps were not diagnostic. And I am convinced that my issues were rooted in the motors and not the ESC for instance.

Eagle Tree must be licking their chops on this one. Recorded real time temperatures, amps, etc.

Had to pay $150 for a replacement.

Fried an ETTI 120 first lap, turned in to a flaming mess, Ruined a new hull. Here is the set up Sport hydro, Neu 1509 1.5 D. 7.4 lipos, detounged X440 prop. All I have gotten from ETTI is a run around. Oh well lesson Learned.

Etti 150, Feigao 13XL, 2x 3S 4000mah 20C, 31" Cat, S220 prop. Motor magnets splintered after about 2 minutes, ceased and pooof went ESC! I reckoned that the 13XL could handle 22,2V, but alas...

Strange , my setup with a ETTI 125Amp a 540XL9 on 6s Lipo works perfect in a cat , lizard Xtreme and Tsunami from MHZ . Did you change some settings ?

9XL on 6S shows a whooole lot of watts that would have fried your motor!!(?) The revs calculate to more than 40k! What prop did you run? X435 or smaller?
On the Etti 150A I only changed the lipo cut-off voltage, but with these damn confusing rings and beeps of Etti you never know what else gets changed and if your settings get saved. Every other ESC manufacturer provide a programming card or PC interface that makes it a lot easier...

Hex120, 18 Nimh cells, Feigao 8XL gear down 1.6:1, was a blast but only for 40s! I'm guessing the ESC did not like the high output frequency with the 8XL at 45000rpm

The XL9 has 1600 revs under load x 3,7v x 6s lipo = 35500 revs and i use a 42mm prop 4255 grimracer . I have no probs programming the ETTI with beeps but an progcard or pc cable would be very handy indeed.

It looks like a lot are running too small props in too light boats.
To me that is almost the same as running a motor/esc combo under NO LOAD !!!
