2009 could be a tough year for R/C boat racing

I can't imagine people being able to travel in 2009, gas is low however. This economy is closing in fast.

I have to agree with you. In Australia things like Neu motors and CC esc's have increased in price by about 40% because of the lower Aussie dollar. I lost 20 hours from my working week because a FORD car yard I was doing security for is selling very few cars and so they can not afford security now. More time for boating but less money to do it with.

FE boating in 09 & 2010 is out for me already. We will be lucky if we can hold on to the house untill the first of the year. On the bright side Steve the low gas prices will make it cheaper to move.

Seriously...Negotiate. If you don't get the answer you are looking for or need. Talk to someone else at the bank. Trust me, you'll get results and/or you'll get relief.

Gas went up $.30 a gallon yesterday.....not sure how that happened. I guess they want to get money before it's all gone. I am hearing of massive layoffs here in my area just after Christmas. The Auto bailout just failed, so I guess GM will be going chapter 11 in a month or so.

Here in Australia the situation is not so bad but still looks very gloomy.

People are in savings mode in anticipation that the worst is yet to come......

Been eyeing the challenger hull at the OSE store but is shopping around on ebay for one of those cheaper hulls from Hong Kong instead.....

I think it’s going to be tough all around – bad economy in the US has a way of affecting things all over the world

Paddy I feel for ya, the paper mill that I worked at shut down putting 600 people out of work. With unemployment at the highest rate since 1994 it’s tough to find a new job to replace the one I lost. Unemployment barely covers the mortgage and child support leaving me about $100/week to cover the rest of my expenses.

I’ve started working on smaller boats just because it’s more economical to put parts in them. Right now I’m rebuilding a Mini Rio, all the parts cost less than one 4s lipo. Small is good.
There is a fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

I wish someone had some scale hydroplanes....low cost that ran on cheap BL motors. Something that could be water proofed. Roundnose hydros and maybe pickle forks.

That would be kewl Steve. Even better if they where able to run off low c-rated packs to keep the cost of powering them down.

Oh sure......you can get BL, ESC's, LiPos and chargers for a very low cost now. Doozie was just telling me of some outrunner motors and esc for $25, and they are using a 700mah pack to run it. The main thing is keeping the water out as you know.

Trent Hare had the idea of a suit case setup before his fatal accident. He wanted a foam lined suitcase with boat, charger, battery and radio to take on trips. Whip it out and head to the lake. With prices today, it could be done easily.

You could have some very fast boats with today's technology and at a low cost......
