The Bangarang from "That would be badass" was discussed in this forum over 3 years ago. I have a Toysport Onyx Eco boat that is an absolute blast jumping wakes and takes any abuse I throw at it. This seems like a large scale version that would work in Lake Michigan waves. I am not even sure they are still being sold. Has anyone on here used one or seen one in real life.

It looks pretty cool in the videos, but 3 years later the packages mentioned in the video aren't on the website yet,so maybe it flopped and died. It is priced pretty steeply for my pockets, but definitely has its own niche in the market.
The hull looks like a scaled up Eco hull from 25 years ago, not the most efficient or best turning on the bottom and quite draggy on the top, but a decent extreme rough water design, and the old bubble tops did roll over faster than the current flood chamber designs which in surf probably matters more than speed or handling. While I wouldn't consider it for a race boat due to the unnecessary weight, or a scale boat because of the looks, I really like the convenience of the single bolt hatch and battery hold downs. Likewise I am not a fan of interior tubs, but it does make it look cleaner, neater and and is easier to work on. For the intended purpose it looks like a good design.
I see a few red flags though, despite telling us he added them to higher end ESCs in previous versions he doesn't know what ESC caps are for, He fits an Octura X4 series surface drive prop to a submerged drive boat, he fits a displacement type teardrop rudder to a submerged drive planing boat when a steel blade turns better and has less drag, and considers a CNC alloy upgrade which would be stronger but no better performing. He has what looks like a straight driveline which isn't ideal for the intended <30mph extreme rough water use, as applying power also adds lift which increases speed but decreases stability, and he chooses to use a flex shaft that will whip like crazy with no significant curve in it, then oversizes it massively to cope with the whipping, when a much cheaper solid shaft would be a better alternative, or a wire drive with intermediate bearing just inside the hull floor would be much better, or better yet a curved wire with less angle on the prop. His recommendation of MaxAmps packs hoping for sponsorship or a deal come across pretty bad too as Maxamps spend a lot on marketing and sponsorships and sell at a premium price, but are pretty mediocre packs with added BS on the ratings.
If it is not available, maybe look at FSR-V hulls, available in 3.5cc 7.5cc and 15cc sizes, they are made for racing an M course with sharp turns and are hydrodynamically very similar to Eco boats, but bigger. I know several people that have made flood chambers for them and run them for fun on electrics from 4s-12s.Paul Upton-Taylor, Greased Weasel Racing. -
Long run time, speed and indestructible build seemed a little too good to be true. Thanks for the info.Comment
