    Flex shaft question

I think I would like to cut a inch of a flex shaft. Its a flex off a SV. Can some just let me know the best way to do it so it comes out good. Also it looks like the end is soldered. How is this done(ie) with a soldering iron? regular solder? and should I definatly do it. Thanks

Best way to cut it is with a dremel and a cutting wheel.

Soldering is done with a blow torch like the plumbers use. A soldering iron will not get the shaft and cable hot enough. Be sure to use a flux to help the solder flow. Make sure the cable is clean, use alcohol to clean it free of any greese. If there's rust, use a steel brush to clean it as well.

    Good Luck !

I thought maybe a torch. Looks like soldering the end is needed and I dont have a torch right now so maybe I will just leave it for now. Thanks

An other trick is to solder it before you cut it.
A good high temp iron will work.

The particular shaft has about 1 1/4 inches of the end soldered so what I did was comprimize I only took 3/4 off with the dremel then grinded it smooth and managed to solder the end with the iron, then wire brushed with the dremel. came out ok thanks again
