A Graupner 820 BB Turbo Race

I have a Graupner 820 brushed motor with the 820 outdrive that I'm retro fitting onto an old 43" Apache boat. Could I get an opinion on what the best speed control to use with this combination? 45mm prop.
The specs for the motor are:
    Nominal voltage 20V
    Operating voltage range 16-24V
    No-load speed 24000 RPM
    No-load current drain 2.5 A
Current drain at max. efficiency 21.3 A
    Stall current 166 A
    Max. efficiency excl. gearbox 82%
Permissible rot. direction R and L
    Case lenght, excl. shaft 68mm
    Diameter 48mm
    Free shaft length 13mm
    Shaft diameter 5mm
    Weight 450g
    Thanks guys....

    An 820 motor is a bit small for a 43' hull is'nt it ?

Yes it is.....but I'm not going for speed. More for the looks. Making the boat look like old fiberglass boat that you might see in a 50's Popular Mechanics mag. Remember when they used to have tailfins and the like on those cool old designs? Anyway, thank you for your concern about the motor size, though.

Are you planning to run 24v ?

There are plenty of speed controllers out there

I'd go with the Jeti 600.

I have a 820 also and plan on using a Jeti on 24 cells to power it in my next build up.
My prop hasn't been wet in a while.

The RC Hydros ESC's I have are rated for 32 cells at (1.2V/cell) I believe so should be able to handle up to 38.4V.

I was planning on starting out with 16 cells.(19.2v) I was thinking about the Jeti or the R/C hydro esc as well. But was concerned about the stall amps. Maybe I shouldn't be? I don't know. Thanks for your help to all.

The RC Hydros ESC's that can handle this voltage are rated for 90 Amps continuous. The stall Amps would be the Amp draw if the motor were stopped completely. How likely is that to happen?
