Which direction on a scuffed bottom?

Spent the morning reading through old, closed threads about the waxed vs scuffed debate. None of the really touched on my question.
Many accomplished “Oval Racers” feel a scuffed bottom reduces drag, lowers amp draw and helps speed through the corners ( especially on monos).
Some stated they scuff parallel to the keel. Some stated at an angle.
Has anyone tested different scuff patterns? Straight, overlapping circles, cross cross? And if so, what were some of your findings?

    Thanks in advance

In the end the scuffing should be very fine and you should not notice which direction the scuff marks are. I use a 220 grit for initial removal and switch to a 400 grit for the final. Using lots of water for both steps. After the 400 grit the surface should be smooth and dull with minimal marks.
