    Gel coat or paint?

    Hey guys need some advice.

I just recently got my old pursuit back from who I sold it to a few years ago and it came back to me pretty rough.
It had been crashed lightly and the owner did some fiberglass work to it that’s not to my standards.
I’ve taken it to a buddy of mine that’s a great fiberglass guy to have it cleaned up but my question is if it should be gel coated or if painting is as good.
It seems to me that the gel would add a lot of unwanted weight to the hull.
    Thoughts?
